Arriving at Alicante Airport
Arriving by road, the access is from the Alicante to Murcia Autovia. It is clearly signposted 'aeropuerto'. The N340 then leads directly to the airport. From Benidorm, the easiest route is via the A7 Autopista.

Alicante airport is likely to be your arrival airport for holidays on the Costa Blanca and visits to Benidorm, Finestrat, Javea, Denia, Altea and other popular resorts.

Facilities within  Alicante Airport
Although not a particularly large airport, Alicante is modern and well organised. Once you enter the terminal buildings, you will find several restaurants, including Burger King, the Bill Bentley Pub and several others. There's a pharmacy on the lower floor of the arrivals hall. It's open 10-2 and 4-8pm. Tel 966 919 419. There are gift shops, a tobacconists and a newspaper outlet. Although there are no conference or business facilities at Alicante airport, there is a VIP lounge. The nearest conference facility is located within the Holiday Inn, Alicante Playa de San Juan, 5km from the airport. There are money exchange outlets , ATMs and a post office.

Lost luggage at Alicante Airport
If your luggage is lost on arrival at Alicante airport, there is a lost luggage counter. The lady speaks a little English so be patient. You will have to complete a lost luggage form which will include your forward address, at which you wish to receive the luggage if/when found. If your luggage is damaged on arrival at Alicante, report it before leaving the airport. It seems that this is quite common for some reason at Alicante airport.

Terminals at Alicante Airport
There are two terminals at Alicante airport and another is currently being built (estimated completion early 2011).
Terminal 1 (marked as T1) has 38 check-in desks, 11 boarding gates and 9 baggage carousels. Terminal 2 (marked T2) has 14 check-in desks, 6 boarding gates and 2 baggage carousels. T2 is predominantly used by Easyjet.

Parking at Alicante Airport
There are spaces for more than 1900 cars at Alicante airport. This consists of long and short term parking. The price for short term, on the airport is around 1.65€ per hour or 15€ per day. This can work out expensive if you are looking for long term parking. There are several companies offering secure parking in the airport area. This is your cheapest option for long term and many offer free transport to the airport via shuttle buses and minibuses. For passenger drop-off there is an area at the front of the airport. This is strictly limited to 10 minutes and tow trucks are always out in force.

Transfers from Alicante Airport

Taxis
Taxis are plentiful at Alicante airport. They are all official, authority managed taxis, in excellent condition. All taxis are metered so make sure the meter is re-set when you get in. An average price from Alicante airport to Benidorm is 22 euros [2010] and to Torrevieja is 60 euros [2010].

Buses
There is no shortage of bus services from Alicante airport. Several coach companies offer seats to cities on the Costa Blanca such as Benidorm, Murcia, Calpe and Alicante.
Buses into Alicante city run approximately every twenty minutes throughout the day. The journey takes around 40 minutes and costs just 3€ [2010]. The buses are reasonably reliable, if not a little slow. For onward transfers, catch this bus to the train station (Plaza de los Luceros stop) or to the central bus station (C/Pintor Lorenzo). The final stop for the bus is on Plaza Puerta del Mar, near the port. This is a good place to start your tour of the city if you want to do some sightseeing. The last bus leaves the airport around 11pm. The first in the morning leaves just before 7am.
