We were delighted that we made the effort to stop. Parking is limited at peak times and the most reliable place to start looking is on the west bank, near the marina. On the opposite side of the road is a long road leading to the prehistoric caves. There is free parking on here. Ribadesella is easy to get to. You can leave the A8 motorway and take the N634 which runs straight into the town.
Prior to visiting Ribadesella, we called at Llanes to the east. Our experience of Llanes was a disappointment. We longed to explore the town in great detail but found on arrival that our motorhome would simply not fit through many of the town roads and there was nowhere where we could park it. We therefore gave it a miss and hope to catch it on our next trip to the region.
From Ribadesella we head west again on the N632 towards Lastres. On the way we seek out one of the many tiny beaches that sit alongside the coast road. A narrow road winds down to a tiny cove. Our camping place overlooks the bay with panoramic views. The only facility here is a small bar/restaurant overlooking the beach. We then visited Luanco and Luarca. |
