First impressions of the Hotel Regente
Having arrived at the hotel, checking in is very smooth and trouble free. The receptionists are very helpful and extremely friendly. They have obviously been at the hotel for many years and have developed a certain rapor with the guests.
The staff
In all departments of the hotel, from management to cleaners and bar staff to kitchen staff, all the staff at the hotel were friendly and approachable. They were smart and dressed in uniform. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The guests at the Hotel Regente
We visited the hotel during the winter season when the hotel is very popular with the older generation. The hotel was still relatively quiet. We spoke to many of the guests and heard nothing but praise for the hotel. Many of the guests had been coming for years and often stayed at the hotel for several months at a time. There were many happy faces around the hotel, day and night.
Facilities at the hotel
The hotel has a games room with pool table, internet access, money exchange, laundry service, daily chambermaid service and several pleasant public areas. There's free wi-fi in reception area but you pay a fee if you want internet in your room.

Outside, the hotel has two very nice and clean swimming pools. There's a large pool and a childrens' pool. There are several terraces and sun decks with ample sun loungers. All the furniture was in good condition. In the summer there's a poolside bar although this was closed for the winter. There are a couple of tour opperator desks in the reception area, along with local information. |
The rooms at the Hotel Regente
The rooms were not over large but they were more than adequate. They were clean and airy with a sunny balcony. The room furniture was basic but tastefull and all in good condition.

The beds were very comfortable, ample wardrobe space and a very clean bathroom. The bathroom came with lots of toiletries and hairdryers were available from reception. The rooms are air conditioned and have a safe. There's also a small TV. There are two lifts to all floors. |

The meals at the Hotel Regente
The hotel offers various options for board including full-board and half-board. Meals are taken in the groundfloor restaurant. The restaurant is immaculately clean. There are hand washes as you enter. The food is very well presented and there's an excellent choice. Meals are buffet style. Most of the food was hot and the salads were served very cold. We didn't particularly like the coffee from the machine. Dinner included several meat dishes and a few fish dishes so there should be something for everyone. There was always a good selection of fresh fruit and some superb deserts. Breakfast included a cooked breakfast and continental. If I were to complain about anything it would be the sausages at breakfast that lacked taste. Everything else was excellent.
The entertainment
The program of entertainment is different every day of the week and certainly varied. The winter program is different to the summer. In the summer the entertainment seems to be geared towards young families with lots of childrens' activities. In the winter, there's daily bingo, fun and games followed by live shows and singers. There's also karaoke. The lounge is a large space with a dance floor and small stage. There's heating and air conditioning. The bar is staffed by excellent, multi-lingual bar staff and there are regular happy hours. The night we were at the hotel, the entertainment was surprisingly good. The young Czech guy who holds it all together was a hit with the guests. The guest artiste for the night was 'Donna Glass' a local female vocalist. She gave an excellent performance that kept everyone happy.

Balconies are small but adequate. Facing the sea, there's sun most of the day.
The views are nothing special but then you are several streets away from the beach. The hotel is a perfect base to explore Benidorm and all it has to offer. |
