This has to be one of the noisiest festivals in the Malaga province. In August the streets are lined with residents who will let off on average 4-5 dozen rockets each as the image of their patron saint passes by them. Despite someone being injured each year, the residents of Tolox refuse to abandon the fiesta.
The day will start with a mass in the church. The image is then paraded through the town to the sound of drums. There are moments of great emotion during the procession.
Saint Roque, according to legend, died in a cave, being fed by a dog before his death. Hence, the image of the saint appears next to a dog and a piece of bread.
