This is one of the largest passion plays in Spain, when more than 500 locals from Riogordo perform the passion and death of Christ. This takes place during Good Friday and Holy Saturday and has done every year since 1951.
So popular is this play that one of it's acts attracts 25,000 people to watch as the three hour act takes place on a natural stage covering 10,000 square metres. The act finishes with the exucution of Christ.
Local Info
Riogordo, is part of the Axarquia region and sits 400 metres above sea level. It covers some 40.6 square kilometres and has a population of around 3,000 people. It is 33km from Malaga and 6km from Colmenar.
