This small Mallorcan town is the centre of the wine making industry and is surrounded by bodegas and wine wholesalers. The town's skyline is dominated by the spire of the town church. In front of the church is the main square, lined with shops, bars and restaurants. You will also find one of the finest hotels on the island in this square, Scott's Hotel. You will find that there are very few hotels in Binissalem and equally as few restaurants. There are however, shops selling local produce, household goods and a supermarket. There is a garage and petrol station located on the main road.

The town currently has a dilemma with traffic; a new one way system is being tried and tested and is failing miserably. Even the residents refuse to take note of newly erected 'no entry' signs. Drive into the centre of town and you will almost certainly find yourself back where you started from or in a dead end with nowhere to go; the church square is a good place to park but avoid market days and the night before market days.

Local fiestas in Binissalem include the Festa d'es Verema in September which marks the grape harvest with folk dancing in the church square, accompanied by copious amounts of wine.
