Places in Spain - A trip to Ronda (Andalucia) as a tourist

Ronda is one of those towns that can be visited over and over again, each time offering something different. We have visited Ronda by car several times but we thought it was time to relax and examine one of the organised excursions from the coast.

We joined Andalucian Tours on their coach and train ride to this white, hilltop town.

The luxury, air-conditioned coach collected us at around 9am on the sea front in Fuengirola. The coach collects at various points along the coast. We had a dedicated guide onboard who proved to be both educational and entertaining. The coach made its way from San Pedro up the mountain road towards Ronda, offering breathtaking scenery along the way, accompanied by an informative commentary from our guide.

Peter, a satisfied customer is pictured below. 'A great day out' he says.

After about 40 minutes we reach our first stop. Its at the leather factory (pictured left) just outside Ronda and its a chance to stretch our legs, have a wander round the factory shop and grab a coffee and a free sherry. Ronda is just 20 minutes round the corner.

Pictured right is Sandra playing hard to get in the bullring.

When we arrive in Ronda we're dropped off within walking distance of all the monuments and shops. We now have a comfortable four hours in the town; plenty of time to see all the sights, a tour of the bullring, a bit of shopping and a nice, pleasant lunch. We find that this is just enough time and we meet back at the coach. It takes about five minutes to drive from here to the railway station where we are dropped off to catch the train back to San Roque. The coach leaves us and will be in San Roque, waiting for us when we get there.

The train journey takes a couple of hours and passes through beautiful countryside. We pass through villages that would not be visible by road. Watch for the paddy fields, storks nesting on the pylons, cork drying yards and fields of cultivated turf. Altogether an interesting and very different journey.

The coach is waiting for us at San Roque train station. It then takes us back to our starting point by early evening.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day out and the service that Andalucia Tours provided was first class. This is by far the best way to visit Ronda. Contact them now and take a look at the tours they offer.
