The
ancient
city
of
Tudela
with a
population
of
around
30,000
is the
second
largest
city
in
Navarre.
Situated
on the
bank
of the
Elbro,
it has
a
history
that
spans
hundreds
of
centuries
through
many
civilisations.
The
city
has a
large
Moorish
quarter
with
many
old
brick
houses
in the
Mudejar
style.
King
Sancho
VIII
who
defeated
the
Sarecens
chose
Tudela
as his
favourite
residence
in
1251.
Within
Tudela,
you
must
visit
the
cathedral
de
Santa
Ana,
located
in
Plaza
Vieja.
It is
the
city's
most
important
monument.
It was
constructed
during
the
12th
and
13th
centuries.
It has
outstanding
works
of art
on its
facade.
On
this
stand
about
120
groups
of
figures
that
stand
in the
last
judgement
doorway.
The
church
contains
many
Gothic
works
of art
and is
very
richly
decorated.
