From
Marbella
take the
A355
towards
Coin
and about
half way
along you
will find
the little
white town
of Monda.
Although
hardly
worthy of
a mention
here, one
attraction
that the
town has
to offer
is the
wonderful
El
Castillo
de Monda
restaurant
and hotel
that sits
high on
the
hilltop,
overlooking
the square
houses,
crammed
into the
narrow
alleyways
of the
town.
|
|
|
The road
to the
hotel
winds its
way up the
hill and
can be
dangerous
when wet,
however,
the
panoramic
views from
the hotel
alone
justify
the risk.
The town
has been
established
since
before
Roman
times and
it was the
Moors that
established
the castle
on this
commanding
position.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The castle
has been
totally
rebuilt
and now
forms this
Best
Western
chain's
hotel. The
whole of
the
surrounding
area is
the Sierra
Las
Nieves,
one of
Spain's
most
beautiful
natural
parks.
The hotel
offers
first
class
accommodation
as well as
evening
meals and
dinners in
its
traditionally
furnished
restaurant.
There is a
pool that
sits on a
terrace
with
outstanding
views and
numerous
gardens
with water
features
and quiet
resting
places. So
much
thought
has been
placed on
the design
of this
establishment
that this
building
alone
would
justify a
stop at
Monda,
even if
only for a
moment. |
