The Albufera National Park is located within Valencia and just 7 kilometres from the city of Valencia. It's one of the most important natural reserves in this part of Spain and is frequented by the people of Valencia city, especially at weekends. It's a specially protected area and since 1990 has qualified as an important wetland. |

The nature reserve includes a large expanse of land and a huge natural lake. The area around the lake comprises predominantly of rice fields that are flooded each year to aid the production of rice or arroz. The natural lagoon has always, and still does support a fishing industry. It's also possible to take a boat ride on the lagoon.

| The beaches at Albufera are backed by natural sand dunes and are often deserted. The sand is wonderfully soft and clean. The beaches are sheltered by pine forests through which tiny tracks run. So beautiful is this area that there are several campsites that specialise in tranquil holidays. The beaches include El Saler, El Perellonet, El Perelló, Les Palmeretes, Motilla, Mareny de Barraquetes, Vega del Mar and Mareny de Vilxes. |
