Security whilst camping in Spain
Security on official campsites is generally very good, especially when busy. However, don't take uneccessary risks. Never leave your camper unlocked, not even for a moment. If you have an alarm fitted, use it. Lock your doors at night and secure any valuables such as cycles, using padlocks.
Electricity and water whilst camping in Spain
The electricity supply in Spain is 240v, the same as the UK although the voltage often drops to around 220v. All appliances will still work but appliances with heating elements such as kettles and heaters can take longer to heat up.
The water in most parts of Spain is drinkable. It's still often better though to boil the water first or use bottled water. Water that is not drinkable is labelled 'no potable'. Water in the cities and on the coast is better than in rural areas.

Facilities on campsites in Spain
As with anywhere else, facilities on camp sites vary. However, most are very well equipped. You can get fresh water, electric hook-ups, empty waste tanks, hot showers, small shops and motorhome washdown facilities.
Many campsites now have free wi-fi internet.

Be prepared to meet new people of all nationalities when camping in Spain. You will find a great number of Germans, Dutch and English.
A real bonus is to have cycles with you. Many of the camp sites are located in rural areas and cycles are the best way to get around. |

LPG Re-fills in Spain
Up until a few years ago, refuelling a fixed LPG tank was difficult in Spain. However, the situation has changed somewhat and there is now a growing network of garages that provide LPG refills. Many garages also have a variety of adaptors to allow the filling of European tanks with different fittings. Here is a useful list of some of the garages. |
