Entry to Spain - Visa information

OFFICIAL GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY TO SPAIN

ISSUED BY THE SPANISH TOURIST OFFICE

Advice for UK residents: A full British passport, valid for the duration of the visit, is required to enter mainland Spain, the Balearic and Canary Islands.

EU, Norway and Ireland citizens do not require visas for visits, whatever the length and purpose of the visit. For stays over 90 days, residence permits are required: temporary permits for stays up to a year and permanent permits after that. Application for these need to be made at the Aliens Office of the province where residence is to be taken up or the relevant Police station.

Holders of passports valid for the entire period of the visit, issued by Canada, Japan and the USA do not require visas for visits of under 90 days, but a special visa is required for longer stays.

All other nationals should contact the Spanish Consular authorities.

Non-EU citizens who are unsure about Visa requirements for entry into Spain should contact the Spanish Embassy in your country.

Pets also need paperwork to enter Spain - see details here
